Editing PDF Files
Merging Documents
Note: Only the PDF files that are opened in PDF Converter Elite at the time can be merged.- PDF documents can be merged in PDF Converter Elite 3 in two ways:
- On the Edit menu, click on Merge PDF.
- On the toolbar, click the Edit PDF icon
. From the dynamic sidebar, select Merge PDF.

- From the Opened Files list, select the files that you want to merge either by double-clicking on the files or by selecting them and clicking the Add button. Note: You can add the same file multiple times.
- Optionally, you can type in the Save Merged File as textbox a file name for the new file.
- Click OK.

Extracting Pages
- To extract pages from the PDF document, choose either of the two possible options:
- On the Edit menu, click Extract PDF.
- On the toolbar, click the Edit PDF icon
. On the dynamic sidebar click the Extract PDF button
.

- Choose the range of the pages to be extracted.
- You can choose whether to delete the extracted pages from the original file, by clicking the appropriate checkbox.
- By default, all the pages selected will be extracted in a single file. If you check the Split output to several files checkbox, the pages will be extracted in several files. You will need to specify a folder in which to save the extracted files, a common prefix for all the names of the files that will be created, and how many pages who want each of the files to have.
- Click OK.

Attaching Files
Note: To view files attached to a document on the View menu, click on Show Attachments
. - Choose the option for attaching a file to the PDF document opened in PDF Converter Elite.
- On the Edit menu, click on Attach File.
- On the toolbar, click on the Edit PDF icon
. On the dynamic sidebar, select Attach File. - Choose a file to be attached to the active PDF document.

Adding Bookmarks
Note: To view a bookmark tree on the View menu, click on Show Bookmarks
.
PDF Converter Elite 3 allows you to create three kinds of bookmarks:
- A Go to page bookmark - a link to another page in the document.
- A World Wide Web bookmark - a link to a web page.
- An Open File bookmark – when activated opens another file.
- To add a bookmark to the active PDF file, choose one of the two options:
- On the Edit menu, click on the Add Bookmark button .
- On the toolbar, click on the Edit PDF icon
. From the dynamic sidebar, select Add Bookmark.

- In the dialog box, click the New Bookmark button.
- In the Label textbox, insert the desired name.
- Choose a type of the bookmark. Depending on the type chosen, you have to input additional data: a page number for a Go to page bookmark, the URL of a web page for a World Wide Web bookmark, or a file path for an Open File bookmark.
- Click on the Save Item button. After that, your new bookmark will appear in the Bookmark List. You can click on the New Bookmark button again to add another bookmark, or you can modify a bookmark already created by selecting it in the Bookmark List and clicking the Edit button. You can also remove a bookmark by selecting it and clicking the Remove button, or remove all new bookmarks by clicking the Remove All button.
- To save changes click the Apply button.

Adding Watermark Text
- To add a stamp text to a PDF document, choose one of these options:
- On the Edit menu, click the Watermark Text button.
- On the toolbar, click the Watermark Text icon
.

- On the sidebar, type your text in the textbox.
- Select a page range.
- Make your selection among the text options provided. You can rotate text to a desired angle, select an overlay or underlay placement, and choose the opacity. If you check the Border option, every written character will have a black border. You can select border thickness from the Line Width box.
- Select the font name, size and color.
- Select the text position.
- Click on the Watermark text button
.

Watermarking images
- To add a stamp to an image, choose one of these two options:
- On the Edit menu, click the Watermark Image button.
- On the toolbar, click the Watermark Image icon
.

- The sidebar appears. Choose the image you want to insert either by inserting the image path in the textbox, or by clicking on the browse button and finding it.
- Select a page range.
- Select the preferred image options. Images can be rotated to any angle, an overlay or underlay can be placed, and opacity can be determined. The Image size can also be modified.
- Select the stamp position.
- Click on the Watermark image button
.

Inserting Pages
- To insert pages in the PDF document, choose one of the available options:
- On the Edit menu click Insert Pages.
- On the toolbar click the Edit PDF icon
. On the opened dynamic sidebar, click the Insert Pages button
.

- In the dialog box, select the location in your PDF document where you want to insert the pages and specify their type. The page type can be either a blank page or a page from another PDF Document. If you select to input pages from another document, input that document’s path in the appropriate textbox or click the browse button beside the textbox and select the document from the dialog box.
- Click OK.

Deleting Pages
- To delete pages from the PDF document, choose from the following options:
- On the Edit menu click Delete Pages.
- On the toolbar click the Edit PDF icon
. On the opened dynamic sidebar, click the Delete Pages button
.

- Select the desired page range.
- Click OK.

Rotating Pages
Pages can be rotated temporarily or permanently.
To rotate pages temporarily:
- On the Navigation bar, click Rotate Clockwise
or the Rotate Counterclockwise button
.
To rotate pages permanently, choose one of the two possible options:
- On the Edit Menu, click Rotate Pages.
- On the toolbar click the Edit PDF icon
. On the opened dynamic sidebar, click the Rotate Pages button
.

- Choose a degree/direction and a page range.
- Click OK.

Resizing pages
- To resize pages:
- On the Edit menu, click the button Resize Pages.
- On the toolbar click the Edit PDF icon
. On the opened dynamic sidebar, click the Resize Pages button
.

- In the Resize pages dialog box choose:
- Page size – one of the preset standard page sizes or a custom size.
- Scaling – none, proportional or stretched.
- Range of the pages to be resized.
- Click OK.

Cropping Pages
The Crop Pages command allows the user to resize the pages by cropping page margins.
- Choose one of the two following ways to crop pages:
- On the Edit menu, click the Crop Pages button.
- On the toolbar click the Edit PDF icon
. On the opened dynamic sidebar, click the Crop Pages button
.

- Specify the dimensions of the margins to be cropped.
- Select a page range.
- Click OK.

Overlapping pages
- Choose one of these two options to overlap pages:
- On the Edit Menu, click the Overlap Pages button.
- On the toolbar click the Edit PDF icon
. On the opened dynamic sidebar, click the Overlap Pages button
.

- Select a PDF Document from which a page will be used for overlapping, and the number of the page.
- Select either an overlay or underlay placement and the opacity.
- Select a page range.
- Click OK.

Adding Headers and Footers
- To add a header and footer to the PDF document, choose one of the following alternatives:
- On the Edit menu, click the Header and Footer button.
- On the toolbar click the Edit PDF icon
. On the dynamic sidebar, click the Header and Footer button
.

- Insert desired text in the appropriate textboxes. Specify desired alignment, font, font size, and font color.
- Choose margins sizes.
- Select a page range.
- Click OK.
